Russia lost a dramatic straight-set over hosts Brazil and meet USA in 3rd place match

August 19, 2016 – Russia lost a dramatic straight-set over hosts Brazil with a 0-3 (21-25, 20-25, 17-25) and meet USA in the bronze medal match of the men’s volleyball tournament at Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Maxim Mikhaylov keeps the scoring record who scored the highest total of 16 points, following Egor Klyuka scored match-high 10 points.

Vladimir Alekno, Coach of Russia: After winning in London and the European Championship we couldn’t do it with this young team. We made too many errors and that is the main reason we ended losing against a strong team like Brazil. We couldn’t solve their serves.
Sergey Tetyukhin, Captain of Russia: It is a sad loss, We didn’t play well today but we still can come back on Sunday to battle for the bronze medal.
